Abstract

Water is a source of energy that can be used as a power plant by utilizing its potential power. With the geographical condition of the regions in Indonesia that have a lot of water potential with an adequate head for small-scale power plants. In Indonesia there are 1315 areas that have the potential to become a source of hydropower energy, and these areas are spread throughout the Indonesian archipelago. The water is used to drive a water turbine, the type of water turbine used is the Pelton turbine. Pelton turbines are turbines that are used as micro hydro power generators (PLTMH) in rural areas. One of the most important components of the Pelton turbine is the nozzle, the nozzle functions as a direction for controlling the flow of water to drive the rotation of the turbine blades. The tools used to conduct this research were Pelton turbine experimental setup, pump, nozzle, bucket, rotameter, tachometer, manometer, stopwatch, and multimeter. From the research results, there is an influence on the performance of the Pelton turbine on variations in nozzle diameter and blade width. In this study I used an experimental method with variations in nozzle diameter of 7 mm, 9 mm, and 12 mm with blade widths of 22 mm, 26 mm, and 32 mm with performance testing using a Pelton turbine. From the results of the research conducted, the best performance of the Pelton turbine was obtained with a variation of nozzle diameter of 7 mm and blade width of 22 mm with a torque value (T) of 3.52 Nm, a turbine angular velocity value (?) of 75.77 rad/s, a value of turbine power ( Pt ) 266 watts, hydraulic power ( Ph ) 330 watts, and turbine efficiency ( ? ) 80%.
