Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the interaction effect of boiler ash and wood charcoal biochar on the growth and production of short long bean plants on peat soil. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau. The design used in this study was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors, the first factor was boiler ash (A) consisting of 4 levels namely 0, 6.25, 12.50,18.75 g/polybag and the second factor was wood charcoal biochar (B) consisting of 4 levels namely 0, 9.37, 18.75, and 28.13 g/polybag obtained 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, so there were 48 experimental units. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, number of pods planted, pod weight planted and longest pod length. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of boiler ash and wood charcoal biochar had a significant effect on all observed parameters. The best treatment is boiler ash 18.75 g/polybag and biochar wood charcoal 18.75 g/polybag. The main effect of boiler ash has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is 18.75 g/polybag. The main effect of wood charcoal biochar has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is 18.75g/polybag.
