Abstract

Many students who are working on their thesis feel given a very heavy burden, so these feelings develop into negative feelings. If this happens for a long time it can worsen the mental, psychological and physical conditions of students which then continuously with high intensity can cause burnout. This study aims to determine the description of burnout in final year students who are preparing a thesis at the Faculty of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau. The subjects in this study were 51 people selected by accidental sampling technique. The data collection tool is in the form of a burnout scale consisting of 14 items adapted from Setyaputri, et al (2022). The analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the majority of burnout in final year students who were preparing their thesis at the Faculty of Psychology, Islamic University of Riau were in the moderate category, namely 39.2% with a total of 20 people. When viewed from gender and age, it was found that there was no significant difference in the frequency of each burnout level. This means that the burnout experienced by final year students who are compiling their thesis based on gender and age is that the majority are in the moderate category.
