Abstract

At present the existence of teaching materials that can make students learn actively, learn independently, encourage curiosity, and can improve their mathematical abilities is very much needed. The purpose of this research is to produce teaching materials based on problem-based learning models that are oriented to mathematical problem-solving abilities. This research was conducted at the Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP Islamic University of Riau, August – December 2022, with a research sample of 43 3rd semester students. Development research is the research used in this study with a 4D design (define, design, development and dissimination). The research instrument consists of validation sheets and practicality of teaching materials. Teaching material validation was carried out by 3 validators using validation sheets. The practicality of teaching materials is obtained from the results of student assessments on practicality sheets after learning using teaching materials. Data analysis techniques consist of quantitative and qualitative descriptive. Based on the results of the preliminary study, information was obtained that 73.33% of respondents stated that the existing reference calculus (book) was difficult for us to understand. The results of the study obtained teaching materials with very valid validity criteria (0.87). Aspects of conformity with PBL steps and mathematical problem-solving abilities get the highest score (1.00 or very valid), while language gets the lowest score (0.53 or moderate validity). Furthermore, the practicality of teaching materials is obtained with very practical criteria (90.39%). This is supported by student input and comments after learning to use teaching materials, namely the learning steps in these teaching materials, helping us to study independently and the examples of questions and exercises presented, helping to stimulate our thinking processes
