Abstract
Emulsion problems during the production process greatly affect the quality of petroleum. So to get petroleum that is released from the emulsion it is necessary to carry out a demulsification process, one method that can be used is the bottle test method with demulsifier injection. This research was conducted with the aim of looking at the performance of organic demulsifiers made from soybean oil in separating emulsions from commercial demulsifiers as a comparison, in several variables, namely temperature 50oC, 60oC, 70oC and concentrations of 1 ml, 3 ml, 5 ml with an observation time of 120 minutes interval 30 minutes, as well as comparing the water quality resulting from emulsion separation with pH and TDS (Total Dissolved Solid) testing. Organic demulsifiers are formulated using the saponification method, namely reacting unsaturated fatty acids with KOH to form organic demulsifiers. Through the results obtained, the study showed that the best separation occurred at a temperature of 60oC where the organic demulsifier with a concentration of 5 ml and a commercial demulsifier with a concentration of 5 ml could completely separate the water-in-oil emulsion with a separation value of 50 ml. The best water quality was found in 3 ml DO with a pH value of 8.73 and 3 ml DK, namely 8,05, then the TDS DO 3 value was 178 ppm while the 3 ml DK was 183 ppm.
