Abstract

Oil palm plantations are a long-term type of business. Planted oil palms can be harvested after 2 ?3 years old until the plants are 25 years old. The small amount of production that produced greatly influenced by the way the oil palm farming is managed. Good management of oil palm farming through the application of SOPs from the start of the investment until the plants are replanted. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of farmers and farming profiles of oil palm farmers and to analyze the application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by farmers in the management of oil palm farming in the village of Pinang Sebatang Barat, Tualang District, Siak Regency. This study used a survey method, located in the village of Pinang Sebatang Barat, Tualang District, Siak Regency. Research area was carried out purposively and from March to July 2021. Where 30 smallholders were sampled using simple random sampling of the entire population of independent oil palm smallholders in the region. Source of data from primary and secondary data. Data analysis in this study used descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis of farmer characteristics and business profiles as well as the variant/ANOVA test and the F test on the application of SOP. The results showed that the characteristics of the farmers, the most dominant age of the farmer was 36-40 years old with a total of 8 persons (26.66%) while at the level of education the most farmers were high school level as many as 20 people (66.67%) and the longest farming experience ranges from 3-6 years as many as 11 persons (36.66%) and the most number of family dependents was 12 persons (40.00%). Profile of independent/private farming business with sources of capital coming from capital, bank loans or cooperatives as well as funds from retired employees the number of workers needed to hire labor based on mutual agreement in terms of productivity and difficulties encountered. The results of the variance/anova test showed that the application of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for oil palm farming to farmers in Tualang District, Siak Regency, that there was a significant difference in the mean/mean value of SOP implementation between farmers. Analysis of the ANOVA test and F test can be stated that all farmers have not implemented the SOP for optimal management of oil palm farming as set by the Indonesian Palm Oil Growers Union (SPKS), starting with land identification, land legality, land preparation and drainage, seeding, planting of nuts. /LCC, planting seeds, maintenance, castration and budding, fertilization, pest and disease control, basic census and production, harvesting and selling of FFB, occupational safety and health.
