Abstract

Social media is often used to express user feelings or emotions through uploads to the Instagram story feature by teenagers. This study aims to analyze the contents of the discourse on quotes on Instagram stories related to mental health in late adolescents. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques of observation, documentation, and interviews with adolescents aged 18-21 years. The data for this study were obtained from various data sources to answer questions the researcher's problems are primary and secondary data. This study uses Teun A. Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis theory which is applied to look at text content, social cognition, and social context. The results of the study show that in the text dimension, adolescents tend to express their personal problems with the intention of expressing their feelings or emotions and seeing how other people respond to uploaded quotes. The social cognition dimension shows adolescents expressing reasons for uploading quotes on Instagram stories. The dimensions of the social context are positive and negative responses and followers on social media instagram teenagers.
