Abstract

The infrastructure of a road segment is built closely related to the road geometry. As is well known, the roads that have been built are reviewed from various aspects, economically and also fulfilling road conditions that are comfortable, safe and secure. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of road geometrics on the safety and comfort of road users with reference to Law No. 38 (2004), PP No. 34 (2006), Law No. 22 (2009), PerMen PUPR No. 11 (2010), Minister of PUPR Regulation No. 19 (2011) and Minister of PUPR Regulation No 20 (2021). Methods of implementing this research with qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative method is the collection of primary data and secondary data. Primary data collection is data issued by the agency, while secondary data collection is field review data. While the quantitative method is the processing of data that has been taken. From the results of the review and field data, it can be concluded that the road section Letjen R Suprapto Bukit Daeng Batam STA 02+250 – STA 03+250, the existing superelevation at bend 1 at e Max is smaller (- 4.3), bend 2 at e max the inside is bigger (+13.49), while the outside is smaller (-1.34) it can resist centrifugal force. Meanwhile, bend 3 is also smaller (7.09). So there is a lack of coordination between horizontal alignment and vertical alignment which results in the vehicle being overturned (Forgiving road). No road signs were found either instructions, prohibitions or warnings (Self Explaning Road). All corners full circle. Priority is given to spiral circles rather than full circles so that the driver is more relaxed, comfortable and safe. Become road infrastructure that is forgiving, guiding, and able to create road user compliance so as to reduce accident rates. Based on the parameters set, it can be concluded that the road sections at the bends studied do not meet the geometric criteria for safe roads.
