Abstract

This study aims to determine the magnitude of the market's contribution to local revenue and to determine the effectiveness of market levies in the Meranti Islands Regency. The approach in this research uses descriptive quantitative with secondary data obtained through the official website of the Meranti Islands Regency, the Central Bureau of Statistics and various other official websites related to the subject matter. The results show that the market retribution in the Meranti Islands Regency is not yet proportional to the total local revenue. The contribution of market levies in Meranti Islands Regency in 2017-2021 is relatively small, which is stated to be less contributing due to the lack of community compliance in carrying out their levy obligations and also the lack of contribution of market objects in complying with market levies. The effectiveness of market retribution in Meranti Islands Regency in 2017-2021 is declared to be less effective because there has not been an increase in market levies on Regional Original Revenue, lack of public awareness to comply with levy obligations and the government's performance in collecting retribution has not been optimal.
