Abstract

Evaluation is also a guide for teachers and students to improve abilities from a different perspective, namely from the point of view of ability measuring instruments. To measure students' ability to learn, tests were carried out in the form of questions. This made the writer interested in conducting research on Analysis of Odd Semester Examination Questions for Class VIII Indonesian Language at SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru in the Academic Year 2018/2019. The problem in this research is what is the index of the level of difficulty of the questions, the index of discriminating power and the index of deception. Items on the Odd Semester Examination of Indonesian Language Class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Pekanbaru in the 2018/2019 Academic Year? The theory used by the author is the theory of Nurgiyantoro, Arifin, Sudjana, Arikunto, and others. The approach used by the author is a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of the research that has been done show that in the aspect of the difficulty level index seen from the level of difficulty there is no balance between questions that are in the easy, medium and difficult categories. There are 34 questions in the easy category (68%). For items in the moderate category, there are 5 questions (10%). As for the items in the difficult category, there were 11 items (22%). In terms of discriminating power, there are 9 questions (18%) that are in the proper category. While the items in the inappropriate category were 41 items (82%). In terms of the effectiveness of the distractor, 14 items (28%) were in the very good category, 4 items (8%) were in the good category, 4 items (8%) were in the poor category, 15 items (30%) were in the bad category, 13 items (26%) are in very bad category. Thus it can be concluded that the quality of the items is not functioning properly.
