Abstract

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a breakthrough in the world of computer networks. The concept of SDN itself is to separate the data plane and the control plane. Network devices can be set centrally on the controller. The SDN controller is a computer with a Linux operating system and running the OpenDayLight application. In this research, SDN-based virtual network simulation was carried out, using mininet tools. Mininet is a computer network virtualization simulator that can create realistic virtual networks, switches and application code. The results of the study show that the virtual network initialization carried out on the mininet application is running well, this is based on network performance testing which includes delay, jitter, throughput and packet loss which is carried out using several network topology scenarios, including topologies of 5 switches, 8 switches, and 10 switches. Based on the research conducted, there has been an increase in the value of jitter and delay and throughput, but it is still within the THIPON standard. And for packet loss there is no significant data loss.
