Abstract
This report aims to improve understanding and workability in everything related to the application of theory in the field of mechanical engineering . Understand , know , and solve all problems that arise in the manufacturing process . Making a cassava chopper machine as a tool to streamline the cassava chopping process time. Providing benefits to the community in this case are small and medium entrepreneurs. The process of designing a cassava chopper machine is carried out in stages, namely planning and explanation of tasks / functions, product concept planning (working drawings). Technical analysis includes analysis of power, torque that occurs on the shaft and frame construction. The propulsion of the cassava chopper machine is planned to use an electric motor that is adjusted to the ability of electric power . Based on the results of the calculation of the transmission system design and cutting force on the cassava chopper machine for animal feed, the final calculation can be taken, with the value for the transmission system for the 50 mm diameter drive pulley and 2800 rpm motor rotation for the 175 mm diameter driven pulley and the rotation of 800 rpm . The belt speed obtained was 7.32 m / s and the belt circumference was 734.95 mm. This tool uses a shaft diameter of 17.9 mm and obtains a shaft speed of 7491 m/s. Calculation of the design of the cutting force on the cassava chopper machine for animal feed, the volume of the blade is 6.048 cm² and the mass of the blade is 0.04753728 kg for the cutting speed of the blade, it is 10.044 m / s and the the blade cutting force is 39.963 N , and the working capacity of the tool is capable of producing 60 kg / hour .
