Abstract

Illegal logging is a problem that is difficult to stop, even though the problem is an act of violating the law that creates an obstacle to the implementation of the environmental law system that aims at good management, and it is proven that there are still illegal logging crimes that occur in the jurisdiction of Indragiri Regency. Downstream, the results are traded by a handful of actors. The main problem of the research is how to overcome the crime of illegal timber trade in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hilir Police Station, and what obstacles are encountered in the effort to overcome the crime of illegal timber trade in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hilir Police Station. The research method is a type of legal research, observational research or survey, while its nature is descriptive, that is, where the author describes in a clear and detailed manner the problems to be studied. The results of the study show that efforts to overcome criminal acts in the illegal timber trade in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hilir Police Station are not optimal even though legal guidance and information have been carried out to the community as well as legal action and enforcement against the perpetrators but have not provided a deterrent effect, this is due to the lack of supervision from the authorities. related to supervising the activities of logging, the lack of coordination between the police and the Environmental Service of Inhil Regency has resulted in the ineffective supervision of the illegal timber trade. Obstacles in efforts to combat the crime of illegal timber trade in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hilir Regional Police are the perpetrators who trade wood directly, it is very difficult to identify because what is usually arrested is only evidence and people ordered to transport and deliver wood, coverage areas or monitoring from the police. This is due to the larger waters of the Indragiri Hilir area, limited personnel to carry out supervision and lack of coordination between the environmental service and the police, as well as lack of awareness from the public. It can be seen that there are many people who actually support this activity.
