Abstract

The internet is an access that is in great demand by humans and is used by humans, one of which is buying and selling through the media Facebook. Nevertheless, the problems that arise from online buying and selling are very diverse, ranging from order discrepancies to sellers who are not responsible for complaints submitted by buyers. And of course the seller must be responsive, because the seller's response or responsibility for consumer complaints has a big impact on online shop stores that use Facebook media itself. The formulation of the problems raised in this study are: 1) How is consumer protection against violations of consumer rights in online buying and selling transactions through Facebook media in Pekanbaru City according to UUPK. 2) What is the accountability of business actors for consumer complaints in online buying and selling transactions through Facebook media in Pekanbaru City according to UUPK. The research method used in this study is in the form of empirical research or sociological legal research. Sources of data used in the form of: primary and tertiary data. Methods of data collection in the form of: interviews, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research, it shows that: consumers who carry out online buying and selling transactions with several online shops get goods that are not appropriate, so the buyer certainly feels disadvantaged, and in this case there are no buyers who carry out procedures to claim their rights, which is the reason from several sources as consumers This is due to the lack of consumer knowledge as ordinary people who understand the law, the second reason is because they do not want to carry out procedures in court and the next reason is because of the cost factor and consumers' ignorance that there is an institution such as the BPSK (Consumer Dispute Resolution Agency).
