Abstract
This online trial is a new thing, so there must be differences, problems and there may be benefits from the procedures and application of online trials, regarding the existence of online trials which are an alternative to implementing trials for efforts to prevent the covid-19 virus and to keep all court officials productive. upstream partners in resolving criminal cases in accordance with health protocols during the covid-19 period. The main problem of this research is how is the online trial procedure in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic in the upstream Rokan State Court and how is the implementation of the online trial in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in the upstream Rokan Court. The research method used in this research is sociological legal research by conducting direct interviews. With the nature of this research is descriptive analitis, which describes in detail which intends to provide a complete picture and paint about the existence of online trials in criminal cases in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic at the Rokan Hulu District Court. The results of the research that the author obtained were for online trial procedures in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic at the Rokan Hulu court based on the Supreme Court Regulation number 4 of 2020 concerning the administration and trial of criminal cases in court electronically and being able to open the Rokan Hulu court website page regarding case registration. until it reached the online trial stage, while in the implementation of the online trial at the Rokan Hulu court it could be carried out in accordance with the health protocol and was able to resolve cases in the Rokan Hulu court although it had several obstacles but it was still able to be handled by all Rokan court officials upstream.
