Abstract

The fire fighting that occurred in the community still cannot be handled optimally. The government still seems slow in handling it. The handling of fires in the Tampan District has not been handled properly. Slow fire handling causes harm to the community. Pekanbaru City Fire and Rescue Service in carrying out its duties cannot be separated from the achievement of policies through Effectiveness, Efficiency, Sufficiency, Equity, Responsiveness, and Accuracy. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that hinder the function of the Pekanbaru City Fire and Rescue Service in dealing with fires in Tampan District. The research method used is a qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that the Pekanbaru City Fire and Rescue Service at the Tampan District Fire Service had not been maximized where there were still delays in extinguishing activities carried out so that the fire was increasingly widespread this was due to the lack of personnel in handling fires, inadequate infrastructure, and slow service calls from the public to take action. However, the authors suggest to the Pekanbaru City Fire and Rescue Service to increase the number of firefighters, provide adequate facilities and infrastructure, and be vigilant in receiving information and handling so that they arrive on time to the location of the fire.
