Abstract

This study aims to determine how much interest the students of class VIII-1 at SMP N 32 Pekanbaru are in learning the art of dance. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method, the subjects in this study were students of class VIII-1 SMP N 32 Pekanbaru, Riau. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire to determine the amount of student interest in dance lessons. The questionnaire used is a closed questionnaire, based on a Likert scale that shows aspects consisting of several statements/indicators. The results of the assessment were then analyzed statistically using validity tests and descriptive analysis which were then calculated in the form of percentages. The results showed that the interest of class VIII-1 students of SMP N 32 Pekanbaru towards dance lessons was included in the medium category. This is shown from the results of the research from the number of respondents as many as 34 students, there are 4 students (12%) are in the high category, and 26 students (78%) are in the sedan category and 4 students (12%) are in the low category.
