Abstract

One technique for playing basketball is the chest pass. In doing the chest pass, it is necessary to have elements of physical conditions that support such as the explosive power of the arm muscles. The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of arm muscle explosive power to the chest pass ability of basketball extracurricular students. The type of this research is correlation, namely calculating the level of relationship between arm muscle explosive power and chest pass ability. The population and sample in this study were basketball extracurricular students totaling 10 people. The research instrument used was an arm muscle explosive power test using a medicine ball throw and a basketball chest pass test. Based on the data from the research and discussion, it can be concluded that: there is a contribution of arm muscle explosive power to the chest pass ability of basketball extracurricular students of 56.40% with rcount greater than rtable (0,751 > 0.632).
