Abstract

In managing waste in Pekanbaru City, as a facilitator or provider, DLHK has focused on increasing community participation in waste management with the waste bank program. The Garbage Bank is an alternative to inviting residents to care about waste, whose concept might be developed in other areas. The waste bank is a strategy for implementing 3R in waste management at the community level. Through the Garbage Bank, an innovative solution was finally found to "force" the community to sort waste. the research location is in Sukajadi District, Pekanbaru City. The thesis problem is the lack of community participation in participating in the garbage bank program, besides that the waste managed by the unit garbage bank is 25,876.71 tons/year in 2021. The concept used in this research is a descriptive survey, which collects data and information through data collection techniques and then analyzed and described according to the reality found in the field. The benefit of this waste bank program for the community is to make the surrounding environment clean. Then the goal of this garbage bank program is also to improve the Community's Economy. The achievement of the waste bank program in Pekanbaru City can be seen from the number of Sapah bank units per RW. Then the reason people don't take part in the waste bank program is because of the lack of outreach and a lack of social life in society. It is hoped that the Pekanbaru City Government, especially the DLHK, will carry out what is known as outreach to the community so that people want to participate in this garbage bank program so that the program continues and the surrounding environment becomes very clean and comfortable.
