Abstract

To get information easily, this can be done by accessing news online through online news portals on social media such as Instagram. One of the online news portals in Indonesia is the Instagram account @kompascom. However, without realizing it, in writing news texts on social media, there is the use of dysphemism or words with harsh meanings. Sources of people's legibility affect their language patterns. This study discusses dysphemism in the Instagram account @kompascom. Dysphemism is replacing a word that should have a neutral or subtle meaning into a word with a harsh meaning. The purpose of this study is to identify, describe, and analyze the use of dysphemism in depth regarding the value of dysphemism and the meaning of dysphemism in the Instagram account @kompascom January 1-31 2021. The theory used is the theory of Fiiarum and Savitri (2018) and Abdul Chaer (2009) . The method used in this research is content analysis. This study uses a qualitative research approach. The data source for this research is the news text on the Instagram account @kompascom, January 1-31 2021 edition. The data collection technique for this research is documentation and note-taking techniques. Test the validity of the data in this study using checking the reliability and checking the validity. The data that has been found is then classified based on the category according to the theory used. The research results obtained are 22 data. Based on the value of dysphemism, it is divided into the value of disgust, the value of feeling terrible, the value of feeling scary, the value of embarrassment and the value of feeling scary. Based on the meaning of dysphemism, it is divided into 2 namely denotative meaning and connotative meaning. The use of dysphemism in this @kompascom account has more of a scary feeling of negative depiction to make it look bad for an object or event and uses more denotative meaning to depict meaning according to reality. In this study, 22 data were found for dysphemism values, 3 data values for disgust, 9 data for feelings of dread, 3 data for feelings of dread, 4 data for feelings of embarrassment and 3 data for feelings of fear. The form of meaning of dysphemism contained in this research is denotative meaning of 20 data and connotative meaning of 2 data.
