Abstract

This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bagan Sinembah with the aim of knowing the effect of family socio-economic status and learning motivation on student achievement in economics class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Bagan Sinembah. The population in this study was 184 students with a total sample of 126 students in class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Bagan Sinembah. The data collection technique in this study used a questionnaire which was processed using IBM SPSS for Windows to determine the sample using the Random Sample technique. Instrument tests carried out are: Validity Test, Reliability Test, Descriptive Analysis, Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, Multicollinearity Test, Linearity Test, Multiple Linear Regression, T Test, F Test and Coefficient of Determination Test The results of the research on the correlation test showed that the calculated f value was 12.720 with the f table value being 3.07. So that the calculated f value is large from the f table or 12.720 > 3.07. With a significant level of 0.00 less than 0.05, H0 is rejected and H3 is accepted. It can be concluded that the variables of family socio-economic status or X1 and learning motivation or X2 simultaneously have a significant effect on student achievement at SMA Negeri 1. adjusted r square value of 0.158. This means that the ability of the independent variables to explain the related variables is 15.8%, the remaining 84.2% is explained by other variables not discussed in this study.
