Abstract

The Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection is a local government organization that has the function and role to prevent and deal with acts of violence against women. This study aims to analyze the role of the Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Community Empowerment of Pekanbaru City (DP3APM) in dealing with and preventing sexual violence. The research method of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data analysis technique used purposive sampling technique. The results of this study explain that the Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Community Empowerment of Pekanbaru City in preventing and handling acts of sexual violence against women has played a sufficient role, namely by providing socialization to the community and handling assistance to victims of sexual violence in accordance with indicators as norms, concepts. , and behavior as well as the existence of binding rules based on the Riau Province Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Women's Rights from Violence. The inhibiting factors in preventing and handling acts of sexual violence carried out by the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Community Empowerment of Pekanbaru City (DP3APM) are seen from planning, organizing, implementing/implementing, constrained budget availability which affects prevention (socialization) and handling (facilities, human resources and supervision).
