Abstract

Cultural adaptation is carried out by couples with different cultural backgrounds. So that in conducting intercultural communication, adaptation is a sure thing to happen when a culture interacs with different cultural backgrounds. Because they trend to be so easy to adapt to their own culture. So it often becomes a difficulty and becomes a problem in making adjustments to other cultures. This study aims to determine how cultural adaptation to ethnic differences marriages in Kijang Jaya Village, Tapung Hilir District, Kampar Regency. This study uses a qualitative method by conducting interviews and observations of three pairs of research subjects with different cultural backgrounds. This study uses the Cross-Cultural Adaptation theory by Young Yun Kim which explains about cultural adaptation. The results of the study explain that cultural adaptation in couples of different ethnicities includes understanding and respecting each other, getting used to making friends with people of different ethnicities, communicating using Indonesian and building a harmonious attitude in the household.
