Abstract

From the end of 2019 until now, the world is going through difficult times. The spread of a virus from one country that has spread throughout the country, makes all things different. Including Indonesia, this virus affects all existing changes. One of them is the education system in Indonesia. This situation is certainly not easy to carry out, for various reasons such as the increasing number of cases of spreading and new clusters being found, making the government still take decisions to limit the movement of education, such as opening and closing schools as well as universities depending on the number of cases of spread in the area. Students also feel the same way as SMA, SMP and SD. Students continue to carry out all processes at the University via online or online. From the admission of new students, to the lecture process. Students who get social support will feel emotionally relieved because they get attention, get suggestions and pleasant impressions from themselves, and feel availability, existence and get care from other people who have meaning in life. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between social support and adjustment to UIR students during the COVID-19 pandemi. The subjects in this study were 270 students who were selected using incidental sampling. This study uses a social support scale and a self-adjustment scale. The results of hypothesis testing in this study have the result that there is a positive relationship between social support and adjustment to students at the Islamic University of Riau during the COVID-19 pandemi. This means that the higher the social support obtained, the higher the adjustment to students. Vice versa if the lower the social support obtained, the lower the student's self-adjustment.
