Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of awareness of the people of Java village in utilizing and preserving the environment as an eduwisata area. This study aims to explore the CSR activities of PT. Pertamina RU II Sungai Pakning in building community participation to realize the Marsawa Peat Arboretum as ecotourism in Bengkalis Regency in the perspective of environmental communication. In this study using qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The research subjects were determined based on purposive sampling technique and got 6 informants. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. This study uses the concept of Community Participation Communication on the environment including planning ideas, building commitment with the community, participation in material implementation, participation in implementing energy, utilizing and implementing development services, participation in mobilizing mass and information, and participation in evaluation. The results of this study indicate that environmental communication carried out by PT Pertamina in the CSR program in realizing the Peat Arboretum as ecotourism is carried out through several stages, namely assessment, planning, production, action and reflection. Community participation in realizing the Peat Arboretum as ecotourism in Bengkalis Regency has been effective, this can be seen from the voluntary community involvement in programs that lead to social change. The four stages are educational efforts, comprehensive solutions in realizing the Peat Arboretrum as Ecotourism in Bengkalis Regency.
