Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of various types of vegetable/natural insecticides compared to synthetic insecticides as a pest control for aphids on curly red chili plants. The research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharudin Nasution, No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The study was conducted for five months, starting in December 2021 until April 2022. This study used a completely randomized design, consisting of 5 treatments, each treatment repeated 5 times. As for the treatment, namely without the provision of insecticides, Bintaro Fruit Extract, Maja Fruit Extract, Young Pinang Fruit Extract, and Chemical Insecticide Curacron 500 EC. Observation parameters were: Plant Height, Symptoms of Attacks and Time Presence of Pests, Intensity of Aphid Pests, Percentage of Pest Attacks, Flowering Age, Harvesting Age, Number of Fruits Per Plant, Fruit Weight Per Plant, Number of Fruits Residual and Correlation Test. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test at the 5% level. The results showed that the testing of various vegetable insecticides as control of aphids on curly red chili plants had a significant effect on the parameters of attack symptoms, attack intensity, attack percentage, number of fruit planted, fruit weight planted, with the best treatment found in maja fruit extract. There are no leftovers in the amount of fruit. Correlation test was carried out on the intensity of attack with the number of fruit planted, the intensity of attack with the weight of the fruit planted and the percentage of attack with the number of fruit planted, the percentage of attack with the weight of the fruit planted.
