Abstract

This study aims to determine the musical elements contained in the dance accompaniment "Togak Balok Kumantan Godang" by composer Iswahyudi at the Bina Tasik Studio, Pelalawan Regency. The research method used is interactive descriptive qualitative. Data collection is done by observation, documentation and interviews. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display and verification or drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Kumantan Godang Togak Balok music uses 2 key signatures (scales), namely 2 moles (2b), namely Bes = Do or G = La and 3 moles (3b) scales, namely Eb = Do or C = La. played with an allegro (fast) tempo, namely at 135 bpm (beats per minute) and using a time signature (measurement mark), namely 4/(4 ) . Then it was discovered that the movement of the Kumantan Godang Togak Balok music melody seemed to be stepping even though there were some parts of the melody jumping and the tone jumps were still in the range of the scales. Furthermore, it is also known that the Kumantan Godang Togak Balok music belongs to the type of homophonic music texture, which is only centered on one main melody that stands out with other instruments that act as accompaniment or accompaniment and the Kumantan Godang Togak Balok music uses more variations and melodic development techniques. reps. The rhythm pattern in Kumantan Godang's Togak Balok music is dominated by notes 1/(4 ), notes 1/(8 ) and notes 1/(16 ), where the rhythm pattern in each part is not the same. The harmonies used in Togak Balok Kumantan Godang music use western musical harmonies as in pop music, namely using d chords using consonant chords. The Kumantan Godang Togak Balok music uses violin, flute and vocal instruments as the main melody while the dominant accordion becomes accompaniment or plays chords and it is known that the timbre or sound color used is violin (chordophone), flute and accordion (aerophone), vocals (tenor). , Calempong (Idiophone) and Tambur (Membranophone).
