Abstract

This study is motivated by the problem of weakening national character. It can be seen from the various problems that happen in Indonesia. These problems must be solved immediately, otherwise these problems can make negative impacts on the characters and morals of the Indonesian people. Character is an assessment of human attitudes towards God Almighty, oneself and others, the environment and the nation based on spirituality, logic, and behavior based on legal, religious and ethical values. The problem of the study is weakening the discipline character of students at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan. The focus of this study is how the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in building the discipline character of students at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan, Pelalawan Regency. The aim of the study is to investigate how the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in buiding the discipline character of students at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan, Pelalawan Regency. The subject of the study is Islamic Studies teachers at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan, Pelalawan Regency. While the object of the study is the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in buiding the discipline character of students. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection techniques of the study are interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques of the study are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. After the author conducted the study, the results of this study show that Islamic Studies teachers at SMPN 1 Bandar Petalangan Pelalawan Regency have made various efforts to build students’ discipline by providing examples of good discipline at school and outside the school environment, such as time discipline, rule discipline, attitude discipline, worship discipline and study discipline.
