Abstract

Difficulty in learning mathematics occurs because it is influenced by two factors namely internal (internal) and external (external) factors. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause difficulties in learning mathematics for fourth grade students at SDN 017 Pandau Jaya in order to find out what causes students difficulties in learning mathematics, the main factors that cause difficulties in learning mathematics and efforts to overcome difficulties in learning mathematics in fourth grade students at SDN 017 Pandau jaya. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, observation sheets and documentation. The data sources in this study involved all fourth grade students and fourth grade teachers at SDN 017 Pandau Jaya. The data collection instruments in this study were questionnaire sheets, observation and document review. Based on the result of the study, it was shown that: (1) The attitudes and interests of students who were still low in learning mathematics were seen when students had difficulty understanding and solving problems, especially in story question. (2) The main factors causing the difficulties experienced by students are external factors in the community evironment origination from the impact of technology. (3) Efforts that can be made by teachers and parents are expected to work together in order to increase students interest in learning mathematics.
