Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and internet addiction in adolescents. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a positive and significant relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and internet addiction in adolescents. The data collection method in this study uses the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) scale of 12 items modified by Mohammad Ali Hasan Abdulloh (2021) according to Pzybylski's theory (2013) and the internet addiction scale of 29 items modified by Andaryani (2019) according to theory Young (2013). The sample in this study was 120 teenagers, obtained through the non-probability sampling method, namely purposive sampling. The analytical method used in this research is Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis. the results of statistical analysis obtained a correlation value of 0.0491 (p> 0.05) with a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05). The results of this study obtained the value of R = 0.241 with (p<0.05) which is 0.235. These results indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and internet addiction in adolescents. This means that the higher the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), the higher the internet addiction in adolescents. The lower the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), the lower the internet addiction in adolescents.
