Abstract

Clean water is needed for people who live in densely populated areas. Scarcity and difficulty in obtaining clean water are problems that often arise among the community where most of the groundwater sources obtained are cloudy water. Existing water sources are contaminated with soil, heavy metals, bacteria and other materials that are detrimental to health. To overcome the problem of cloudy water, it is necessary to try to get a clean water source by using a tool called a Wick Solar Still Type Solar Distillator with the addition of a reflector. To determine the effect of the reflector angle on the performance of the solar distillator. Then get the reflector angle that has the best solar distillator performance. This tool functions as a converter of cloudy water into clean water ready to use by evaporating by utilizing solar thermal energy. In testing the distillator using 5 variations of the reflector angle 55°,58°,60°,62°,65°. The reflector angle has an influence on the performance of the wick solar still type solar distillator where the larger the reflector angle, the better the performance. The solar still type wick solar distillator that has the best performance is found at a reflector angle of 65°where the highest evaporation energy is 37.48 watts. Then obtained the highest condensation energy of 37.48 watts. Then obtained the highest distillation rate of 0,0000158 kg?s. Then obtained the highest product efficiency of 8%. Then obtained the highest efficiency of the distillation system of 10.4% and obtained the highest quantity of distilled water of 400 ml.
