Abstract
The purpose of this study to find out the students’ perceptions in learning English vocabulary through smartphone. Learning Vocabulary is a central to learning a language, without it someone cannot express his ideas in oral or written forms. The goal for learning vocabulary is to make students easier to learn other English skill, and also make students get the best score in English subject. It must be considered as an important step in learn foreign language, especially in English. In this study the researcher tried to find out the students’ perception in learning English vocabulary through smartphone. This research used quantitative research. The data was taken from the third semester students at English department of FKIP UIR. The research took 20 respondents from the third semester students at English department of FKIP UIR as sample. In this research, the researcher used questionnaire as research instrument. The researcher found that the third semester students at English department of FKIP UIR has some usefulness in English vocabulary such as, students can improve their English vocabulary outside of the class, students always find new vocabulary when using their smartphone, and students definitely find new vocabulary every day. While on the other side, sometimes students have problems such as having difficulty using their iv smartphone because the language used is not Indonesian, and sometimes they don’t notice to words that they don’t know..
