Abstract

CO2 gas emissions are very common in various processes of the oil and gas industry and have a negative impact if left free in the atmosphere. To solve the problem of free CO2 in the atmosphere, several oil and gas industries have implemented a technology that can store CO2, known as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). This research will focus on the parameters that affect the storage of CO2 in the geology of the Depleted Shale Gas Reservoir. This research uses reservoir software simulation in the form of CMG-GEM to create a reservoir model, then run 153 scenarios using CMG-CMOST software to facilitate the selection of parameters that affect CO2 sequestration to be applied in the field. This sensitivity study was conducted on 5 parameters, namely matrix permeability, matrix porosity, half fracture length, fracture spacing, and fracture width. The parameter that has the most importance parameter on CO2 storage in the Depleted Shale Gas Reservoir using the Random Forest Algorithm is porosity. The results show that porosity is the most importance parameter of 0.937052. Then followed by matrix permeability of 0.024400, fracture spacing of 0.021281, fracture width of 0.011626, and fracture half-length of 0.005641.
