Abstract

This study discusses the police efforts in tackling traffic violations by children in the jurisdiction of the Dumai Police, the choice of this title is motivated by the large number of minors who drive two-wheeled vehicles and commit traffic violations, thereby increasing traffic violations, therefore the need for the existence of police efforts in tackling traffic violations committed by children in the jurisdiction of the Dumai Police in accordance with the traffic and road transportation laws. This study aims to find out what are the factors that cause traffic violations by children in the jurisdiction of the Dumai Police and to find out how the police have made efforts to tackle traffic violations by children in the jurisdiction of the Dumai Police. This type of research is an empirical sociological research that is a method with a field study approach to obtain the necessary data during the research process using interviews and questionnaires as primary data while secondary data obtained from library research. The nature of this research is analytical descriptive, that is, this research was conducted by conducting interviews with several respondents, namely the Head of the Dumai Police Headquarters, the Head of Kamsel Satlantas Polres Dumai, the Regident Head of the Dumai Police Satlantas, and child traffic violators. The data analysis used in this study is qualitative data analysis. From the results that the authors get, the factors that cause traffic violations by children in the Dumai police jurisdiction consist of human factors, vehicle factors, road factors and the efforts made by the police in tackling traffic violations by children in the Dumai police jurisdiction. and repressive efforts.
