Abstract

The facts prove that crime can only be prevented but it is difficult to eradicate it completely. One from of crime that often occurs in the Tapung sub-district ia the theft that most often occurs because the object of theft is easy to find. The public and the police do not realize that the theft occurs not only because of the perpetrator’s intention, but also because of the opportunity to commit theft. Due to the negligence of the vehicle owner, someone accidentally steals and aventually becomes a thief, thus making the crime of motor vehicle theft more rampant. The tendency to steal is successful in any way, but in some cases the thief ooccurs at a specific time, involving the condition that everyone will have an appropriate time to act. The problem studied in this study raises problems regarding the factors causing the criminal act of theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the jurisdiction of the Tapung police sector and how efforts are made to overcome the crime of theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the jurisdiction of the Tapung police force. The type of research used in this study is in the form of a survey, which is carried out directly in the field to obtain data or information from respondents in the field by conducting interviews. This research was conducted in the jurisdiction of the Tapung police with the data used in this study, namely primary data and secondary data. Data collection tools using interviews. The population and respondents are the parties related to the problems in this research. In the results of this study the authors can conclude that there are several factors causing the occurrence of the crime of theft, namely economic, environmental and educational factors. Because it is caused by humans who have needs, fulfilling those needs must force humans to think or even try to fulfill their needs. In this case, law enforcement officers also have an important role in handling the crime of theft of two-wheeled motorized vehicles in the jurisdiction, especially the jurisdiction of the Tapung police sector. Law efforts in tackling the crime of theft of two-wheeled vehicles in the jurisdiction of the tapung sector police are through preventive ( prevention) and repressive (enforcement) efforts.
