Abstract

One of the additives that is quite widely used in the manufacture of concrete is fly ash or coal fly ash which is usually obtained from coal waste used in steam power plants. In Pekanbaru City, there is a PLTU Tenayan Raya, a coal-fired power plant located in Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City, Riau. Where in the coal combustion process produces Fly ash and Bottom ash waste. This study aims to determine the effect of partial replacement of cement with fly ash from PLTU Tenayan Raya Pekanbaru on the compressive strength of concrete. Method used is an experimental method by making samples in the laboratory with replacement percentages of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. to the weight of the concrete. 15 pieces of cylindrical specimens measuring 15x30 cm. This research uses SK-SNI 03-2834-2000 for concrete mix planning. Based on the results of concrete research using Fly ash, there was an increase in the slump value along with the increase in the percentage of Fly ash, where at a percentage of 5% the slump value was 15.74 cm and at a percentage of 20% the slump value was 17.37 cm. And in the compressive strength test, the lowest value was obtained at a percentage of 20% with a compressive strength of 23,496 MPa and the highest value was obtained at a percentage of 5% of 25,478 MPa. It can be concluded in this study that the compressive strength decreased when compared to normal concrete without Fly Ash content. Despite the decrease in compressive strength, all percentage variations reached the design compressive strength, but did not meet the targeted compressive strength.
