Abstract

This study aims to investigate whether there is an influence of reading interest on students’ achievement in learning Islamic studies in grade X at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Bunut, Pelalawan Regency. This is a correlational quantitative study. The subject of the study is the students in grade X at SMAN 1 Bunut and the object of the study is reading Interest on learning achievement in grade X at SMAN 1 Bunut. The population of the study consists of 133 students, with a sample of 100 students. The data collection technique of the study are tests and questionnaires. Based on the data analysis, it is knownthat there is an influence of reading interest on students’ achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade X at SMAN 1 Bunut. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis, it is known that the significance value is 0.000, because 0.000 is less than 0.05, so the research hypothesis is accepted. The magnitude of the influence can be seen from the summary table, namely the R square value of 0.124 or 12.4%. It means that learning achievement is influenced by reading interest by 12.4% or in a very low category. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of reading interest on students’ achievement in learning Islamic Studies in grade X at SMAN 1 Bunut.
