Abstract

Interpersonal Communication Between Patients' Families and Nurses in Adult Mental Health Careat the Tampan Mental Hospital of Riau Province Sinta Triyanti NPM : 189110070 One part of communication is interpersonal communication or interpersonal communication. The form of communication that arises from the nurse with the patient's family can be seen from the ability in good administrative services and can meet the needs of the patient as long as the patient is treated in the form of complete and accurate information so that it can be measured from the satisfaction of the patient's family. In general, if the patient's family is not satisfied with the service, a complaint is given to the hospital. Complaints that are not handled and not responded to by the hospital will result in decreased patient family satisfaction with the services provided. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of interpersonal communication between the patient's family and the nurse in taking care of adult mental health at the Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province. The research method used is a qualitative method. The subjects of the study were nurses and the patient's family. From the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that the good relationship between nurses and the families of patients at the Tampan Mental Hospital in Riau Province can be established with communication and responsibility (professional) and does not discriminate between the family status of inpatients, whether the family of BPJS patients or the general public. . Through the effectiveness of this interpersonal communication, the patient's family obtains the right information and diagnosis regarding the family being treated. Then the patient's family also feels well served and trusted because they are allowed to always visit and meet directly with patients.
