Abstract

Oil palm is one of the important and strategic plantation crops in Riau Province. This is because of its large role in encouraging the people's economy, especially plantation farmers. The Riau Regional Government prioritizes oil palm as a regional superior commodity. This study aims to 1) analyze the characteristics of independent oil palm farmers in Bantan sub-district, Bengkalis Regency. 2) analyze the use of independent oil palm farming production factors in Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. 3) analyzing production costs, production, income and efficiency of self-help oil palm farming in Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. This research was conducted using a survey method on independent oil palm farmers in Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. This research was conducted for 6 months starting from December 2021 to May 2022 the sampling technique was taken from the population of all oil palm farmers who manage self-help oil palm farming in Bantan District, three villages in Bantan District were taken, namely: Bantan Tua Village, Bantan Air Village and Suka Maju Village. From the number of samples taken 31 independent smallholders. The results showed that 1) The characteristics of oil palm farmers showed that the average farmer was 46 years old, the farmer's education period was 8 years on average, the experience of the farmer was 15 years on average, the number of dependents of the farmer's family was on average 5 people. The average use of labor in the family in oil palm farming is 2.48 HKP/Ha//Year, the use of labor outside the family is 20.43 HKP/Ha//Year. The average use of Urea fertilizer is 196 kg Ha//Year, NPK 70 kg Ha//Year, TSP 133 Kg Ha//Year, the average use of Gromoxone pesticide is 3.09 liter/Ha/Year and Round Up 12.08 Liter/Ha/Year, 3) Average total variable cost Rp. 4,684,086 /Ha/Year, total fixed cost Rp. 263,012 /Ha/Year, and the total production cost is Rp. 4,900,320/Ha/Year. The average production is 3,603 kg/year. The average gross income is Rp.8,648,284/Ha/Year with a net income of Rp. 3,747,964 /Ha/Year and an RCR of 1.83 means that this business is feasible to continue to be developed.
