Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the interaction effect of planting media and liquid pomi fertilizer on the growth and production of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.). This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11 No. 113 Marpoyan Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. This research was carried out from July to November 2021. This study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 2 factors, the first factor was the planting medium which consisted of 3 levels and the second factor POMI liquid organic fertilizer which consisted of 4 levels. Parameters observed were: plant height, harvest age, number of tubers, fresh weight, dry weight, tuber losses, and root volume. The research data were analyzed statistically and continued with the 5% BNJ test. The results showed that the planting media of peat, PMK and PMK peat mixture and the application of POMI liquid organic fertilizer had a significant effect on only a few parameters, namely for plant height the best value was 48.9 cm, the best harvest age was 63.67 hst, the number of tubers was the best value 10.11, and root volume with the best value of 7.00 cm3 and for the other parameters although they did not have a significant effect but had an average value such as the wet weight of the tubers with the best value of 130.66 g, the best dry weight of the tubers 93.95 g, and the best value of tuber shrinkage was 28.94%. The best treatment for planting media is PMK soil and POMI liquid organic fertilizer. The best treatment is POMI liquid organic fertilizer 15 ml/500 ml of water.
