Abstract

The need for internet access is currently very high, both to find information, articles, the latest knowledge or even just to chat. To be able to access information requires a network that can manage user needs. On a computer network in the area of one building or an area no more than 1 km away, a Local Area Network (LAN) network connected to the internet is needed, a LAN network is a computer network that is connected to a server computer using a certain topology. The method used is Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and is integrated into a VLAN network. In this study, we will discuss the comparison between VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) and HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) VLAN network based on EIGRP routing, the test is carried out by sending packets, the packets sent are in the form of video streaming with the HTTP protocol, including the main router and backup router in active condition and how the main router condition is not active. Overall, the results of the comparison above that have been measured, the authors conclude that VRRP is better than HSRP.
