Abstract
This study is motivated by the problem of learning outcomes among some students at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras. The learning outcomes of students who do not reach the minimum completeness criteria (80) are due to (1) students are less focused during the learning process, this causes a lack of students’ ability to complete the assignments and exercises (2) some students are less able to answer the teacher’s questions and it makes students cannot achieve grades according to the KKM (standard of minimum completeness). The study aims to investigate the influence of teachers’ pedagogical competence on students’ outcomes in learning Islamic studies in grade X at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras. The type of the study is quantitative with a correlational approach. The population of the study consists of 140 students with a sample of 104 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires, test questions and documentation. The study consists of two variables, variable X (teachers’ pedagogical competence) and variable Y (students’ learning outcomes). Based on the data analysis, the level of teachers’ pedagogical competence in the perception of students at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras Pelalawan Regency is categorized as very strong, with a score of 82.4% which is in the range 81% -100%, the level of students’ learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras Pelalawan Regency is catetorized as strong with a score of 62.0% which is in the range of 60% - 80%, other results show that the influence between variable X (Teachers’ Pedagogical Competence) and variable Y (Learning Outcomes) is 0.079 or 7.9% is in the range 0.00 - 0.199, which is included in the very low level criteria. While 92.1% of learning outcomes are influenced by other variables which are not examined in the study, it means that the influence of teachers’ pedagogical competence on students’ learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras is categorized as very low. Thus the alternative hypothesis is accepted, the level of relationship between teachers’ pedagogical competence and students’ learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Pangkalan Kuras is included in the very low category.
