Abstract

Directive and expressive speech acts are very often used in everyday language by humans when interacting using many directive and expressive speech acts. The author has also been integrated with the place so that it is easier to get information. The use of directive and expressive speech acts is a phenomenon that encourages the author to carry out further research. The problems in this study are (1) How is the directive act on the speech of sellers and buyers in the market of Mandau Raya Duri, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency? (2) How is the excretive speech act in the speech of the seller and buyer in the Mandau Raya Duri market in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency? The objectives of this study are (1) to describe analyze, interpret, and conclude directive speech acts at the speech of sellers and buyers in the Mandau Raya Duri market, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency. (2) describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude expressive speech acts at the speech of sellers and buyers in the Mandau Raya Duri market in Mandau Sub-District, Bengkalis Regency. This study uses the theory of Rahardi (2005) and Yule (2006). The approach in this study is qualitative. This research uses a descriptive method. Technique of collecting observation data, record, see and note. This study uses purposive sampling means that all speeches are identified as a form of directive and expressive speech acts. The samples in this study were all speeches identified as speeches in the form of directive and expressive speech acts. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the speech which includes directive speech acts in the form of ordering 5 speeches, 12 ruling forms of speech, 9 forms of requesting forms, 2 speech-giving forms, and 10 recommended speech forms. Speeches in the form of expressive speech acts including the form of thanking 8 speeches, the form of blaming 13 speeches and the form of praising 13 utterances. The most dominant directive speech act is in the form of governing 12 utterances and the least form of advising 2 utterances. Whereas in expressive speech acts there are 24 utterances, the most dominant being in the form of blaming 13 utterances and the least is in the form of praising 3 utterances.
