Abstract

This study is motivated by problems of student interest in learning, such as lack of attention to lessons of Islamic Studies, the students are not happy when learning the lessons, they are not interested in the lessons being taught, and they are not actively involved when the teachers ask questions. The aim of the study is to investigate whether there is an influence of academic guidance on learning interest of students at Islamic Education Study Program (PAI), the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR). This study applies a correlational approach. The subject of the study is students of the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI), the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR), and the object of the study is the academic guidance on learning interest of students in academic year 2018. The population of the study consists of 241 respondents, and the sample is taken by using the slovin formula with a margin 5% error so that the sample is 150 respondents. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. Based on the data analysis on the Academic Guidance level of the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI), the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) using a statistical percentage formula, it is known that the Academic Guidance level is 83% on the assessment criteria in the range of 81-100% with a level of good, and the level of student interest in Islamic Education Study Program (PAI), Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) by using the percentage statistical formula is 85% on the assessment criteria which is in the range of 81-100% with a very good level of student interest in learning. The influence of academic guidance on students’ learning interest at the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI), Islamic University of Riau (UIR) is 0.657 or 65% is categorized as strong, because there is a range of 0.60-0.799 in the correlation coefficient interpretation table, while the remaining 35% is influenced by other things. It can also be seen from the results of simple linear regression with a significance value of 0.000, so 0.000 is less than 0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis is accepted.
