Abstract

The decline in oil production in the last decade is very worrying. This decrease was due to mechanical limitations such as pumping equipment to lift oil with high viscosity. With this problem, the third phase of tirtiary recovery or commonly called enhanced oil recovery (EOR) must be drained. One of the EOR methods that is often done is the thermal method. The use of electromagnetic waves to heat rock reservoir or heat treatment must be done so that paraffin deposits do not increase. This method of heating is one method of thermal EOR called electrimagnetic heting (EMH). In this study carried out with simulation research methods by utilizing softaware simulation as the main tool in research. One of the good simulators in resrvoir simulations is CMG STAR. The study was carried out by observing electrical power and injection time which will have an impact on paraffin deposits, viscosity levels and temperature spread on increasing recovery factors using the intermittentt method. The study was conducted on a homogeneous and heterogeneous reservoir which aims to compare between the ideal reservoir with a actual reservoir. The research was conducted in the SWR field on F wells with oil conditions in the form of heavy oil with API gravity 14.4o API. The results of research using different power provide significant results. Increased oil recovery factor in a homogeneous reservoir with a power of 20 kW of 9.0%, at 40 kW of 9.2% and at 60 kW of 9.3%. While for heterogeneous reviews with a power of 20 kW it increased 10.3%, at 40 kW it increased 10.6% and at 60 kW it increased 10.7%. When compared with previous studies which were carried out continiously, there was an increase of 0.2% and could save the use of electical power by up to 50%.
