Abstract

This research was conducted in Siak Regency. This study aims to analyze whether there is an influence between population growth on economic development in Siak Regency, the analytical tool used is simple linear regression with quantitative descriptive methods and data processing using programs from the SPSS application. The results of the research are obtained based on the hypothesis test performed, from the coefficient of variable value. A constant of 1.386 means the amount of Economic Development in Siak Regency If Population Growth is equal to 0 is 1.386%. The coefficient value of 0.547 means that the population growth variable (X) has a positive effect on economic development (Y) in Siak Regency. The positive influence means that if there is an increase in population growth of 1%, it will increase economic development by 0.547% on the estimated results, then the prob value is known. Population growth is 0,000 <0,05, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that population growth has a significant influence on economic development in Siak Regency. The coefficient of determination (R2) test is done to find out how far the independent variable (Population Growth) is able to explain the dependent variable (Economic Development). In accordance with the processing of data that has been done, it is known that the R2 value is equal to 0.994. This means that as much as 99% of the population growth has represented to explain economic development.
