Abstract
Clean water is a basic need for humans for everyday life, humans cannot live without clean water. Water is consumed by humans every day, especially for drinking. Water that must be drunk must be water that is really clean. Riau is a lowland area, generally there is a lot of surface water or peat water. Peat water is surface water that is commonly found in peatland or lowland areas, which contains high levels of iron, organic matter, and is acidic in nature so it needs special processing. To overcome the above problems, it is necessary to make efforts to obtain clean water sources by processing water by distillation using a device called a wick solar still type solar distillator with the addition of a reflector. Then to get the reflector area of ??the solar distillator which has the best performance. This tool functions to convert peat water into clean water ready for use in everyday life. By evaporating peat water by utilizing solar thermal energy. In this study the performance of the wick solar still type solar distillator which has the best performance uses a reflector area of ??15,000 cm², which obtains an energy evaporation rate of 26.5 watts, a condensation energy rate of 26.5 watts, a distillation rate of 0.0000199 kg /s, product efficiency is 6% and distillation system efficiency is 10.2%. From the results of research on the effect of reflector area on the performance of a wick solar still type solar distillator at a reflector area of ??15,000 cm² has the best effect on performance.
