Abstract
This study aims to determine the strategy of strengthening student character education through counseling guidance in elementary schools. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques and instruments are observation, interviews and documentation. Testing the validity of the data using source triangulation, method triangulation and time triangulation. Data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The conclusion of this study is how to strengthen student character education through tutoring services in class IV SDN 190 Pekanbaru seen from the implementation of the values of Religious, Discipline, Independent, and Responsible character that the researchers met had been carried out smoothly. Constraints from how to strengthen student character education through counseling guidance services can be seen from the obstacles for teachers, namely the character education program has not been well socialized to all teachers so that they do not understand it and the obstacles for students are seen from the environment, family, and their own self-awareness. The solution obtained from the strategy of strengthening student character education is the existence of information guidance services, consulting guidance services, and individual guidance services at SDN 190 Pekanbaru. With this counseling service, teachers can provide learning and motivation to students so that behavior is in accordance with character values through studying at SDN 190 Pekanbaru.
