Abstract

Road is an insfrastructure that is very important for the needs of the society. Road damage has affected the social and economic conditions of the society. This research was conducted at regency of indragiri hilir, Tembilahan city. This research aims to determine the role of public works and spatial planning service (PUPR) regency of indragiri hilir for road maintenance in the regency of Indragiri Hilir, also to find out the obstacies in road maintenance activities. Because there are still many damaged roads in the city of Tembilahan that need to be addressed immediately. It es expected that damage can be immediately maintained so that the damage does not spread further. This type of research uses descriptive surveys with quantitative methods. The types and sources of data used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation and the theories used are roles. It can be concluded that the role of public works services and spatial planning in road maintenance in regency of Indragiri Hilir (Study in the field of genera) is at a sufficiently important interval. These results can be seen from the four indicators that road condition survey, executive officer, implementation of road maintenance and road maintenance supervision.
