Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect of Zeatin and IAA (Indole Acetid Acid) concentrations on the in-vitro multiplication of mangosteen seeds. The experimental design used was a completely randomized factorial design consisting of 2 factors, namely the Zeatin factor at doses (0, 0.05, 0.5, and 5.0 ppm) and the IAA factor at doses (0, 0.05, 0.5 , and 5.0 ppm), so that 16 treatment combinations were obtained. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications so that 48 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 explants, a total of 192 explants. Parameters observed were as follows: percentage of explant growth (%), age of shoot emergence (days), age of root emergence (days), number of roots (fruits), number of stem (fruits), and number of leaves (strands). Observational data from each treatment were analyzed statistically and continued with a follow-up test for Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The interaction between Zeatin and IAA gave effect on the percentage of explant growth, the age at which shoots appeared, the age at which roots emerged, the number of roots, the number of stem shoots, and the number of leaves. The best treatment was 5.0 ppm zeatin and 5.0 ppm IAA. The main effect of zeatin has a significant effect on all parameters. The best treatment is the administration of zeatin at a dose of 5.0 ppm. The main effect of IAA is real on all parameters. The best treatment was given IAA at a dose of 5.0 ppm.
